On the occasion of the Rugby World Cup’s inaugural game in Paris, Ralph Lauren will be presenting its Rugby brand outside of its own US retail stores. A selection of the Rugby Fall 07 collection will be showcases at Colette in Paris. In Colette 10th year history, Colette is dedicating an entire room to a single brand. This space will be transformed into an authentic Ralph Lauren Rugby environment, inspired by the first freestanding Rugby store in NYC.

To commemorate this unique partnership between Ralph Lauren and colette, four limited edition rugby shirts have also been designed and also limited edition (only 200 made) rugby ball will be will be offered simultaneously at colette and the Rugby store in NYC during the two weeks of the initiative. both item will be also available at the Colette eshop.

HELVETICA is a homage paid to the typography of the same name which celebrates its 50 years this year, adored or hated by the graphic designers of the whole world, and chosen by Colette like her typography of reference since its opening in 1997. The exposure is directed by Gary Hustwit which has just carried out documentary “the Helvetica”, documentary projected in the gallery.

Helvetica is the first documentary film which has for subject typographical characters. It explores through many interviews of graphic designers, the amazing proliferation of the use of Helvetica in the whole world. The film more largely makes it possible to be interested in the use of the typography in big cities and to raise the question of the multiplication of the signs, but also to approach the processes of creation and the aesthetic choices related to the typographical characters.With the interviews of Erik Spiekermann, Matthew Casing, Massimo Vignelli, Wim Crouwel, Hermann Zapf, Neville Brody, Stefan Sagmeister, Michael Bierut, David Carson, Paula Scher, Jonathan Hoefler, Tobias Brother-Jones, Experimental Jetset, Michael C. What is an age of innocence mixed with dash of decadence? It will look like the couture creations during The Golden Age.

A glamorous exhibition focusing on Parisian and British couture between 1947-1957–a decade that Christian Dior described as the ‘Golden Age’ of fashion—will be on from September 22nd to January 6th in London’s Victoria & Albert Museum.

In Paris, couture houses such as Balenciaga, Balmain and Fath attracted worldwide attention for elegance and glamour. London was renowned for formal state gowns by court dressmakers and impeccable tailoring by designers like Hardy Amies.The production of couture was important to the prestige and economy of both France and Britain. While traditionally catering for wealthy private clients, the couture houses also sought new markets. As the decade progressed, they created perfumes, opened boutiques and licensed their designs to foreign manufacturers. By the late 1950s, the leading couture houses had become global brands.

Luxurious couture and branded items fill the dreams of common people then, just as it does today. With perfect tailoring and exquisite fabrics, couture shined a golden light in fashion that was brighter than ever, and it will be a feast for the eyes that this lush dream will be revisited in our time.

The work of Le Corbusier remains highly significant and relevant in today’s architectural discourse. Yet during the past two decades, no major museum had addressed the multi-facets of Le Corbusier’s work, which is still a crucial reference for contemporary architecture and urbanism. To fill this void, the Vitra Design Museum is now joining forces with the Netherlands Architecture Institute and the Royal Institute of British Architects in the production of an international retrospective.

By incorporating the results of recent scholarly research, the works of Le Corbusier are updated with contemporary approach. In result, a comprehensive introduction is provided for younger generations, who will continue to be loyal cult followers of this architecture giant, and view his timeless works in context the new light of twenty first century.

New York, February 12, 2001 – It’s not hard to understand why BCBG has a substantial following all over the world—designer Max Azria has an uncanny ability to appropriate major currents in fashion and make them accessible to a general market.

Accompanied by an earsplitting soundtrack of mid-’90s Prodigy techno, Azria sent out everything from moleskin trenches and trousers to leather strip jackets, scalloped minidresses and pleated bustiers that brought to mind Helmut Lang’s Spring dominatrix-inspired collection. As if to make sure not to miss a single trend, Azria also included corduroy suits, flouncy chiffon dresses, glimmering Lurex tops and plenty of waist-sculpting leather cage belts in the spirit of Tom Ford’s recent corseted Gucci collection.

With an outstanding music career, motherhood, and now a successful third season all tucked under her skinny patent-leather belt, Gwen Stefani defines the modern day Renaissance Woman. All of the looks for the Spring/Summer 2008 Ready-to Wear collection seemed to walk straight out from the closet of the paparazzi-tailed songstress. The collection was entirely wearable, with classic curve-hugging numbers and preppy school girl knits. Forest green, spray can blue, and dusty yellow breathed life into the royalty-in-training tightly belted ensembles. As expected, black and white in various patterns (yes, her love for leopard print continues to prowl the runway) appeared, this time inspired by the mesmerizing prints of the 1960’s. A staple worn by almost every cat-eyed model in Stefani’s Spring / Summer 2008 collection were the lace-up librarian heels, often times paired with sheer knee high stockings. With a star studded front row at the show, L.A.M.B. continues to attract the credit cards of urban socialites who crave endless contradictions and unpredictability in color combinations, styles, and silhouette.
