The statistic is somewhat surprising, given the wealth and status of US as the largest economic power in the world. However, there are currently 1 million+ homeless youth living on the streets across 50 states. To combat this national dilemma, Virgin Mobile, a subsidiary of Virgin Group, created REGeneration Gallery and Benefit Auction, now in its second year.21 artist, along with curator Rich Jacobs, devised original, one of the kind works of art up for auction, with all proceeds going to a list of charitable organizations that address the issue of homeless youth.The auction process is divided into 2 tiers. The first online based auction is currently ongoing until November 1st. This allows anyone to bid their favorite work. A second (silent) auction will take place on November 7th at Skylight Studio in New York City. The bidder with the highest amount - either online or at the event - will be the winner.
