Menswear label Yoko Devereaux is one of the few brand that created a successful inroad in the blending of downtown hipster aestheticism with uptown gentlemen sophistication. Explained the label’s creative director, Andy Salzer, “It makes sense at this point to really start growing up with our customer. The Yoko Devereaux man isn’t necessarily the most traditional customer. Working with fabrics that speak to the tradition of menswear, but then updated for a more downtown customer brings additional depth to the brand and the collection.” To convey that concept across, the label hosted a fashion show at the Blue trade show here in New York City last Monday evening, January 21st. Inaugurated by 2 of the most influential figures in the business of fashion, Elyse Kroll of ENK International and Fern Mallis of IMG Fashion. The Yoko Devereaux Fall/Winter 2008 show saw some 17 combinations of outerwears, trousers, sweaters, and t-shirts. Few standout pieces included the pleated short pants in blue and black herringbone wool, heavy gauge fleece overcoat with hood, and an extensive collection graphic t-shirts & sweatshirts - featured the works of artist Charles Lutz as a continue collaboration between both.
Portions of Yoko Devereaux’s Autumn 2008 collection will debut at upcoming Project trade show in Las Vegas next month. Current Yoko Devereaux products are available at selected retailers worldwide and at the label’s flagship store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
