
Susana Soares - BEE’s Project - Face Object
In a reflection of our even design-driven lifestyle, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York just opened its newest exhibition last month. Titled Design and the Elastic Mind, the exhibition highlights the intricate relationship between design, science, and innovation. Over 200 objects, including 4 special commissions, created by designers, architects, engineers, and those in the science/technology field, are all on display. The exhibition is divided into 3 parts: small scale in addressing the growing interests in nano-technology. Human scale in ever blurring boundaries between human and machine. And large scale, the modern struggle of individualism and pluralism, which increase exponentially with the advent of the Internet. In conjunction with physical exhibition in New York City. MoMA launched a special website designed by Yugo Nakamura, the person behind the interactive website for Japanese apparel label Uniqlo. Desing and the Elastic Mind will be on display till May 12th.

Elio Caccavale - MyBio-reactor Cow
In an effort to highlight the changing landscape between nature, science, and technologies. Elio Caccavale created a series of prototype toys to demonstrate these once-unattainable achievements, such as the usage of cow milk in medicine.

Freedom of Creation - Punchbag
Exploration in new method of fabrication, FOC’s brass-knuckles inspired Punchbag was created with no human intervention - no sewing, weaving, or linking. Instead, a CAD simulation and 3-D printer created it start to finish.
