In your opinion, what is really deficient in Taiwan’s design environment?

The most deficient is originality. To realize original ideas is tough in Taiwan. In order create original product or creative design, it requires money, distribution channel, support, and etc…

Now, on a more personal basis, has any of your ideals change as you get older?

When I was younger, there were more rules. But I also did more things based solely on my impulses. Now, I’m more realistic in some ways. I often compromise with what the market demands are. However, it is only around 20~30% of the time, and always on my terms.

你覺得台灣的設計環境最缺乏的是？

欠缺對於原創的了解，部份台灣的設計師缺少了原創，在台灣要做品牌與創意設計並不容易，要有熱情、也需要金錢的支援及足夠的通路，才能讓創意產生價值。

隨著年齡漸長，想法上是否有所改變？

以前年輕有條件，很多事不加思索，現在也許是變得較為實際，有時也不得不與市場妥協，但仍是一種保有自尊心的妥協，約是20～30%的程度，並非是百分之百的妥協。
